Little girl things to big girl things

And it's finally summer guys! I cannot express how much I have loathed the past one and a half months-these board exams have taken such a toll on everything, my hair, my skin, me weight, my mental state...I could just go on and on, but I'm not going to because why hold on to the past? It's over with for now, I can worry about my result when it comes in August, I'll have a whole month designated to mourn and let my anxiety take over. Oh, how fun.

You know how during school years and any exam period we daydream about having possibly the craziest, wildest and most productive summer imaginable and then when the time comes we end up completely wasting those precious months of freedom? Yes, I’m a great example of this-a master procrastinator and professional time waster are the titles I prefer. This strange creature, called Maham thrives on the couch and spends her time consuming TV show after TV show, completely oblivious to her surroundings. Ha.

But this year, I have the strongest feeling that this will not be the case. I feel like this is mainly due to the fact that I have never been this aware of my position in the world, and the fact that I have two years before university and I can’t waste anymore time. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to pile on internship after internship, because at the same time I’ve realized that (the following is going to be really dramatic) I really want to just be happy. Only do things that make me happy and give me pleasure and don’t stress me out so much. I want to feel completely aware of the fact that I’m alive. I’m well and alive. I want to live a life that I want to live, completely change up my lifestyle and take pleasure in simpler things as well. I started off summer by a little self care-I got my hair dyed! It’s making me so incredibly happy, I feel like it’s a move from little girl things to big girl things, and it makes me feel grown up, and powerful and happy. I got hi-lites and some lo-lites put in, in honey blonde and caramel. It’s a very subtle dye job as I just wanted my hair to look sun-kissed. A makeover to start summer feels absolutely incredible, and I feel like I can take on this summer now, and do everything that I have planned for it. No more TV shows, no more wasting time. More reading, more photography, more working out and eating well, more fresh air through breezy evening walks, wearing more colour, more self care by buying myself flowers and writing little motivational notes to myself, more time spent on doing things I love, more time sent being only with the people I love. It’s a fresh new start people, and you should join me in this fresh new start.

Prom Shrom and Study breaks

Well, here you go. Some moody pictures from my prom. As much as I wanted it to be a fairy tale event, it was far from that, hence, to set the mood i chose to edit the pictures in black and white to incorporate the angsty mood that hung in the atmosphere that night. Of course, it's not pictured as such, but my saari was a bright red with a gold blouse, my face sported the melted makeup look and my hair sported the frizzy-mop-of-curls look. My title was 'Sass Machine' and boy, didn't the juniors pick out the perfect title for me. As they say, it was 'on point'.

Until next time, when I'm in a better mood and I don't have board exams in exactly two weeks. Adios.

Fast and Furious update!

So I'm really liking this random updates idea, it's working pretty well for me, since I hardly have had time to do anything blog-worthy or even to blog random nonsense. Random updates is helping with my schedule. Well, what schedule now, I just gave my last school exam! I still have my O level exams in well, less than a month away, but I'm going to have a much more relaxed schedule since school's over and done with. I can put in time for working out, blogging, studying and having some fun. On the last day my friends and I went to watch Fast and Furious and of course it was INSANEEE. Then we went to get some juice and talk about the film, and it was amazing and kind of perfect.

Useless updates #1: Mostly selfie edition.

Yes, MOSTLY a selfie edition because I had to put in this first picture, it makes such a pretty blog post header! Anyway, I decided to join in on the fun that is putting up the most useless, random updates on the Internet, a blogging series thought of by Areeba. I so understand the excruciating feeling linked with the fact that you can't blog about completely useless updates about your life because nobody cares. But you know what? If people don't care, I don't care either! Can you really call this post useless 'updates' though, because they aren't exactly UPDATES about my life, more of random selfies I've taken recently(and not so recently!)

So here is me LONGING for short hair! I'd love to have really short hair, like a lob(long bob, just learnt this), and hell, it won't be a ride in the park maintaining such hair because most days it ain't gonna look as good as it does above! I'm not really allowed to have short hair because my mom loves my long hair, but after my exams end and prom is done with, I'm pressing once again for her to let me try something new! I'm going to have to prepare a whole argument/speech for this one. Fingers crossed, hope she agrees!

I'm also trying to stray away from my 'all black everything' mantra. Well, just kidding, honestly i just really want to experiment this summer! I want to look really different this summer and give myself a proper makeover. Things that are on my mind include getting a wavy lob, a cartilage piercing, and wearing many different kinds of lipsticks and eyeliners. Here I'm sporting a bit of purple liner on my lower lash line, along with the standard black on the upper lash line, and some bright pink lipstick! It was scary, looking so different, because normally I'm a kohled eyes, long lashes and nude or red lips kind of a girl, and this is something different. I'm starting to really like different.

Well, this is my rockstar picture, and the dirty mirror and lights around my bed are the details that really make this picture. Who doesn't like a bit of a grunge factor? I love this picture because it incorporates all those little elements of someone living a 'hardcore' life. And ACDC was definitely blasting from my speakers when i took this picture.

And this would be that not-so-recent picture I was talking about, with rather awful lighting as well. This is from my MUNIK days, and I wanted to include this in this post because i look cute and nerdy and smart, lol.

That's all the selfies for this post!

RUNG DIARIES-The last day in school.

There is absolutely nothing i like better than a rung event. I'm writing this while in clean, dry pajamas, in bed, blogging from my phone which is something i really despise doing yet I loved today way too much to not sacrifice a little and blog tonight. For the past five years I have attended a rung, annually. Usually my best friend hosts it. This time the first rung of the year was for out last day in Bayview-it's a traditional last day event. I remember watching the waves and waves of seniors before me have their rung in the school basketball ground, with the dhol and the dancing and entering like bosses in the strangest of transport. Actually being DOWN there on the ground? Wow.

For those of you who don't know, rung is like non toxic temporary dye that is put into huge tubs and thrown/sprayed/squirted/poured onto the others like a huge, colourful water fight. We come out looking absolutely hideous after it but it's totally worth it. It also comes in powder form. The most memorable and used colours are pink and purple, although today we had buckets and buckets of pink, purple, yellow, green and blue. It was incredible. Our mode of transport was a hugeee truck, which we stood on and we screamed and sung on it all the way to school. We entered to just grab onto each others shoulders to start a LONNGGG train and kept yelling throughout. Then we got to the ground for the actual rung to start and it was the best thing ever. I had forgotten how much i loved these things, which honestly describe fun more than any proper dance, formal dress party ever can, for me at least. Oh, how i love rung. We danced like mad, attacked each other with rung, did the bhangra(a type of desi dance) to the dhol(drums) and a lot of tears were shed as well. We hugged and brought our beloved charismatic headmistress into the rung hugging her with our stained, well, our stained everything. In the end we got samosas(potato filled pastries) and drinks and that's what concluded our colourful, loud, amazing last day at school. Following traditions are good for the soul. And to think i was almost not going to attend it. Whatever you do, just show up. Show up show show up. Many times you'll have an absolutely sucky time, but out of those many days there WILL be days you will be glad to not have missed. ♡

The End.

Well, this is the end. I know, dramatic much? But it is, and I can't change the facts. Five years in Bayview have ended. We do still have our rung(kind of like holi only NOT holi) tomorrow, our last school exams in a week and our prom coming up but there won't be any more normal school days and that hurts my heart. I'm separating from our four-member squad as we are going to colleges/A level schools. These guys made high school amazing, so did everyone else. And it hurts to think that I'm never going to ever drag myself up the stairs to the multi-purpose room turned classroom ever again.

This is our 'Lyceum peeps' group, that is all the people from my school going to the same A level institute as me, Lyceum.

Best friend trio pictures.

Favourite teacher, favourite class(Sociology).

Awkward prom assistance pictures.

The Environmental Management class, missing two more. Not all of us got along but we learnt to, in the end. Oh man, that is such a 'The Breakfast Club' story and picture. Oh, it was Casual Day, that is why we are out of uniform. Our grade also decided to make it a themed last casual day, so it was like a toned-down Halloween with multiple Batmans, hippies, goths, army rangers and gangs roaming around. I was a cheerleader like from the old movies who would walk around wearing signature necklaces and boy's football jackets. I had to explain that to everyone many times which was exhausting but they really liked the idea once they understood it. Score.

This is just me being cute with Kash, who was not in costume. Where's the fake-Halloween spirit?

And the rest are just pictures with the squad and other cute memories.

  Celebrating twenty-five years of Bayview.

Thank you for being a school I'll never forget. But where it all ends, there is a new beginning for me as well, an exciting one. I like change, I think it's healthy and inspiring, and I have been waiting to graduate for THE longest time. It feels pretty damn awesome.

Nostalgic Sundays

So my amazing friend Mashael took some pictures of me, well, more than a year ago and recently sent them to me(and by recently I mean today) and it just felt so nostalgic looking through them! I think Mashael is a great photographer and I'm quite happy to know that I wasn't as ugly as I thought I was, more than a year ago! These were taken on her roof just before sunset and it was loads of fun being the model for once. I guess I like being in front of the camera just as much as I like being behind it. I'm also quite liking the white t-shirt and jeans combination.
